When you think of a police dog handler, your mind probably conjures up images of big white teeth, dogs chasing wrong-uns, and vehicle pursuits.
Not forgetting, of course, the life-saving work police dogs and their handlers do when it comes to finding high-risk missing people.
And, to be honest, most of those images are quite an accurate depiction of what life as a dog handler is really like.
My uncle was a police dog handler for two 20 years, and he loved it.
I also enjoyed volunteering as the stand-in ‘wrong’un’ whenever my uncle and his trusty land shark (or fury missile) needed some weekend training.
But what about downtime?
What does a police dog (and by default, his/her handler) enjoy doing when not searching for high-risk missing people or taking on dangerous criminals?
Well, one police officer has made a short video of what his four-legged-friend likes to get up to on his days off.
And, as you can imagine, it involves empty boxes and water.
