Woman Who Drove Away From Court After Being Banned From Driving Is Arrested

Police have arrested a woman after they were alerted to the fact that a banned driver decided to drive home from court.

Greater Manchester Police Roads Policing Unit were informed that the banned driver had decided to get back into her car and drive home; completely ignoring the sentence that was handed down to her only moments before.

After being banned from driving, the driver decided to get back into her car before casually making her way back home.

At 22:48 last night (5th November) @GMPTraffic tweeted to say:

‘We received several messages regarding the woman who was disqualified earlier today and drove away from court!

‘Well, officers from #RPUWest have attended her address and arrested her! She’s now in custody awaiting interview!

‘Updates to follow tomorrow.’

The driver now potentially faces a stint behind bars for her blatant disregard of the sentence that was handed down to her by magistrates.

A tweet that was published at 12:28 today confirmed:

“Investigation update Simara Knopka, 39 was charged and remanded for driving whilst disqualified.

“She’ll be back in front of the magistrates today to account for her actions.

“We will update you later with the court result”.
