Amazon Business is a relatively new service offering from the world’s largest online retailer.
Most small business owners probably do not even know that Amazon Business exists or what exactly it is that this free service does.
Before I go on, and to give a little bit of context, I used to run by my own online retail business.
I sold embroidered bags – mainly to members of the emergency services and armed forces. Because my margins were tight, I had to close the business in the end.
It was a profitable business and made me a bit of money, but it was just too niche.
I did learn quite a lot from that particular business model. One of the most important lessons that I learnt was about how important it is to find a decent supplier.
One of the biggest headaches that I had with my online business was finding a supplier who I could rely on.
It takes ages to find a business that has the same standards as you do, and you end up paying quite a bit of money – in the form of trial and error – during your search.
These controls ensure that only authorised purchases are made.
When you combine this together with their free tools that enable you to integrate with your existing purchasing system, then you can quickly see how this exciting new service from Amazon will be a great help for your operation.
Detailed purchasing analytics are also provided, which will be invaluable when it comes to planning your purchases and making allowance for any gap in stock flow.
What’s the catch?
As far as we can tell, there isn’t any.
Amazon Business accounts are free. There is no set-up charge or monthly subscription that you have fork out for.
How cool is that?
Once registered for Amazon Business, users can search hundreds of millions of products in the Amazon Business inventory.
And this is where the real magic happens because multiple sellers can compete for their purchase which means that you can get the best deal.
Amazon’s free service, on the face of it, appears excellent for both sellers and buyers.
It is excellent for buyers because you get access to competitive rates.
Amazon Business is great for sellers as well because you get access to a vast audience of potential buyers.
But do not take my word for it. Give it a go for yourself; after all, it is free!
