We have now become used to seeing our fellow shoppers with their face coverings on when we pop to the shops to stock up on vital things such as toilet roll and pasta.
A few months ago, the sight of shoppers wearing their face coverings was a novelty. It was something to talk about when you got home.
But then the true scale of the situation started to become apparent, and now everyone (well, most people) want a mask on – even when they are in their car on their own.
But that still has not stopped some people being rude when they see someone else out-and-about with a mask on. As one nurse in the USA found out recently.
Emily Annette had just finished a 16-hour shift and was shopping for some groceries (wearing her mask) when she had an encounter with a rude and abrupt shopper.
At the time, Emily (@EmilyAnnette6) tweeted to say:
“At the grocery. Wearing my mask. Lady behind me, snarky & loud enough to make sure I heard, “don’t guess she realizes that stupid mask won’t do any good.” Me: “Honey, I’m an off duty nurse, I’m wearing it to protect YOU. But, I can take it off if you’d like.” She practically ran”.
The tweet clearly struck a chord with thousands of people as it has been ‘liked’ over 832k times with over 107k retweets.
So if you do go to the shops and you see someone wearing a mask, then just remember that they may not necessarily be wearing one to protect themselves.
They might be wearing one to protect you instead…
