The popular restaurant, Fortune Garden, sustained minor damage following the collision.
East of England Ambulance Service medics arrived on the scene and treated the officer who was driving the vehicle for a broken thumb.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said:
“Two cars, including a police car, were in a collision in London Road, Leigh-on-Sea at around 8.10 pm on Sunday 9th February.
“The police car, which was on blue lights and sirens at the time, was then also in collision with a building.
“The driver of the police car has sustained a broken thumb”.
