We are used to hearing about dodgy con-artists knocking on peoples doors trying to sell them cleaning products to defraud them out of some cash.
But this is the first time we have heard of a fake fishmonger trying the same tactic.
But that is precisely what happened recently in East Riding of Yorkshire.
Humberside Police announced that a 28-year-old man had been charged with numerous counts of fraud following several incidents between Monday 9th Dec 2019 and Monday 13th Jan 2020.
Nicholas Groom, aged 28, of Flamborough Road, Bridlington was arrested on the 16th Jan in connection with numerous reports of a man going door-to-door to sell seafood and not returning after taking money from elderly people in the Bridlington area.
Groom was subsequently charged with six counts of fraud and has been remanded in custody by the courts.
Hopefully, his victims will get their money back or will be allowed to throw some fish guts at Groom in the not-too-distant future.
